I had no issues with this piece of equipment, in fact I LOVE IT!

After seeing the first review, I made sure to follow the instructions regarding the finalizing of the DVD. The disks recorded just fine and played on other players, perfect picture. It has come in SO handy for recording movies and shows. I checked the first couple of DVDs after recording them, and they were great. I also transferred holiday video from my camcorder.

I think the last review mentioning the problem with the region code is not the fault of the DVD recorder…most players/recorders have region codes (world wide), so if you want to take the unit to another country, you would need to check if it is compatible beforehand.

All in all, I would recommend this recorder to anyone interested in purchasing one.
