Right now there is no excuse not to buy a Toshiba HD-A2 or HD-D2 player (which are practically the same with the exception of their names). Even if used as just an upconverting player, the D2 does a fantastic job outdoing the Samsung upscaling DVD player that it replaced. If you have Netflix, you can rent from a full library of HD titles. The DVD quality looks so great, you’ll want to keep this one around even if Blu-ray emerges the winner. But with this player getting such a sweet price point, and getting to experience a few killer titles in true HD, blu-ray has a lot to be nervous about.
