I liked it’s features. It took me a little while to figure out how the finalization process works and I really wanted to have the ability to choose between maybe a couple finalized disc menu types before it finalized but unfortunately it only has one option. I’ve used pioneer burners who had that option. BUT… those were 0 pioneer burners fitted with HDDs. I guess I’m in a completely different price range on this purchase. Over all, it’s a good device. I value the things it has. in a lot of ways, it’s got a lot of things I didn’t have on my list and I’m happy about that. the input select is fast, the firewire input is awesome – DV input is awesome for it. unfortunately, you can’t send to it from a computer.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. Minimum size = Viewing distance/3 Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

 

Panasonic TC-P46S2 46-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV User Review

I bought this television from Amazon & have lived with it for a couple of months.

I did a lot of shopping; finally deciding on this television & I am very happy I did. This TV is fantastic: Beautiful colors – 1080p – 600Hz Refresh Rate – 2,000,000:1 Contrast Ratio. The last two numbers make LCD’s come up very short. In case you don’t know: The contrast ratio is a measure of the difference between white and black. The higher the contrast ratio, the blacker the blacks & the whiter the whites. The deeper blacks make the colors really pop. This is where Plasma completely dominates LCD.

Sound & Vision Magazine rated these Panasonic Viera Plasma televisions right under the Pioneer Kuros. This is high praise considering that they had rated the Pioneers the best TV, of any kind – anywhere, for the last two years. Considering that the Kuros are 4 times the price, this TV was the obvious pick.

For the last years; the knocks against plasmas were the issues of Burn-In and excess heat compared to LCD’s. The issue of Burn-In has been addressed. It is not a problem anymore. In addition, I have not noticed the TV giving off any abnormal heat. As a matter of fact, I don’t notice any heat from it at all. Since these issues have been fixed, Plasma’s should be much higher on everyone’s shopping list.

A couple of side notes: 1) since I got it I have moved from cable to Dish. This has made a big improvement, & 2) the ability of take an SD card directly from the camera, insert it into the TV, and play the images is a nice feature.

I ordered direct from Amazon with the free shipping. The television arrived quickly and in perfect condition. The delivery people were accommodating and professional. They set everything up & were nice enough to even move some furniture around.

If you are considering a television in this price range, I think this is the one to get.

Panasonic TC P46G15 – 46″ plasma TV – widescreen – 1080p (FullHD) – HDTV User Review

Purchased this plasma TV in early January. It was a “close-out” model still in box at a local big box retailer. I bought the last one in the store. We recently moved and my huge 65″ projection TV was not going to fit into our new living room, so we needed a flat screen to mount on the wall next to the fireplace. I was undecided between an LCD or plasma, but decided on the latter due to the claim of a better viewing angle. The tv is mounted in a corner, and is watched from the living room, dining room and sometimes the kitchen, so a good viewing angle was crucial. I’ve had this tv for over a month now & we absolutely love it! The picture is so beautiful no matter what the source we’re playing. Standard def is clear and of course, HD is amazing! The sound from the TV isn’t as bad as I thought it would be after reading other reviews. Digital quality sound thru HDMI & the TV’s speakers is crisp and clear. We did end up buying a AV receiver to hook up to the TV but that was more for music purposes. I could have easily used and been happy with the tv’s built-in speakers. The viewing angle is very good, which is why we chose this model in the first place. A couple negatives about this TV to be aware of: 1) there is a glare off of the screen if watching in a sunny room. One entire wall in our living room is a window that is currently not covered by curtains or anything, so the room gets plenty of sunlight during the day. At certain times of the day, the picture on the TV is nearly washed out due to the glare from the screen, but we plan to install a curtain on that wall sometime soon so this should resolve that issue. In addition, our TV watching during the day is not too often, so this minor annoyance is tolerable for us. I had read that due to the glass screen, plasmas do give off more glare than LCDs, so I knew this going in. Not going to ‘ding’ a product for something I already expected. This was a trade-off I was willing to make for the better viewing angle. I have never owned an LCD flat screen so cannot compare the anti-glare claim on those TVs. 2) This TV is difficult to keep clean since dust shows up like crazy on the black casing, but again, this is a minor complaint for me. Only takes a minute or two to swipe it clean. My boyfriend, who did not want a new TV, actually commented on my good decision to buy this one. And all of our friends who were thinking of going the LCD route have changed their minds to going plasma, or this exact same TV. I think that’s the best testament of all! All in all VERY pleased with this model and its performance. Can’t imagine someone experiencing television on this set and not enjoying it!!!

Panasonic PT-61LCZ70 61-Inch 1080p LIFI HDTV User Review

I’ve had this TV for about 10 months now and I still can’t believe how good the picture is when I’m watching high def sports! I traded in a Mits 65″ for this one after a week of listening to a very noisy unit. Color wheel, cooling fan, all makes for a lot of noise. Noise that THIS set doesn’t make. Another advantage over the Mits is that if I’m moving around the room or I have a lot of people over, we can see the picture pretty well at an angle. If you weren’t dead center to the Mits, you couldn’t see the picture at all. So much has already been said about this amazing Plasma so I won’t waste words here. After months of research this loyal Sony owner jumped ship.After side by side comparisons and reading countless reviews I determined that the Viera blew the Sony XBR away. The Kuros by Pioneer has priced itself out of the competition for my wallet and to be honest I think you are splitting hairs between the Viera and the Kuros.My dilemna was in choosing between the 58 Inch Viera 800 or the flagship 850U. The lesser priced 800 is the only model of the two that gets the THX certification on it’s picture and is priced around 0.00 less. The 850U has the firmware and ethernet connection so that it’s capabilities are upgradeable.It currrently has the ability to view your Picasa photo’s,watch YouTube videos, and a few other neat things like the one click concierge service for any problems the TV should have as well as world weather. The Vera Link option works seamlessly with my Panasonic 55 Blu-Ray player. I was able to have the best of both worlds. Although Abes of Maine consistantly had the 800 at he best price around. I was able to buy a refurbished 850U that comes with the 90 day warranty from Panasonic.I paid 99.00 and I am so happy I did. This TV is in perfect condition and they pack it like it’s the last one on earth. I bought from Just like New Electronics in case you are looking. I’m amazed at this Picture and all the bells ans whistles the TV has. It’s has th whole family under it’s hypnotic spell.I wanted the cleanest look I could get and replaced my old surround sound system with a Yamaha YSP4000 sound bar. I have no regrets on any of it.By buying the 850U I’m able to stay up to date with all the new ways Panasonic can think of to keep me connected to the world. I love the fact that it has begun to replace my small PC screen and Laptop with 58 inches of mind blowing views. If you can swing it I would not hesitate to buy the 850U. I don’t think the lack of THX certification means anything other than Panasonic not wanting to pay the extra money for the Certification in an effort to keep it way under the Kuros.

Panasonic VIERA G10 Series TC-P46G10 46-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV User Review

After viewing several makes and models of televisions at different stores this is one of the best ones I have seen, if not the best. The picture is outstanding. Colors are bright and vivid while the depth of the black level is really good. The contrast, sharpness, and color all seemed perfect right out of the box. The naturally higher refresh rate of the plasma set is an added plus. Being able to go directly to the internet for streaming movies through Amazon.com, viewing weather, stocks, or watching You-Tube is also a nice feature.
After viewing the new LED and LCD pictures, they appeared to be be overly bright and so sharp that the picture on the screen seems to be a series of pasted snapshots. The plasma set is more lifelike with a more three dimensional look. Sound quality is pretty good even when turned up to a loud level. The G-series line of plasmas by Panasonic is noticeably better than the other lines.
The price from Amazon with shipping included was the best price I could find anywhere at the time.
Delivery was quick and handled very well. The deliverymen unboxed the set after it was brought into the house and stayed until it was inspected.
