The Pioneer arrived with a plug adapter (not expected but thrilled to receive it.) At first I thought I would also have to buy a power converter but a quick email to the merchant and a very quick reply from them said I didn’t need one. This was truly a plug and play system. I now am watching my Region 2 DVDs – and I am so happy! I also purchased an HDMI cable (Cat 2) from an Amazon merchant for under and that is how I have my Pioneer connected to my Samsung 630. This really opens up my DVD world to include international movies. Just one note: The instructions that came with the Pioneer said to go to page 36 for details to change the player to NTSC – it was actually page 43 in my manual. Not a real issue – I figured it out.

This is my second Sony DVD upconversion player and the playback quality is outstanding. I transferred my old VHS tapes to DVd’s and had playback problems until I put them in this Sony and the quality was very close to original DVD’s and no more glitches.

Pioneer dv 400v…this is amazing how good my dvds look on my 1080p tv. Simply buy this dvd player, then buy an hdmi cable (buy the least expensive as with digital cables they are all the same, even though monster will do anything to sell you their “better” cables, do not fall for it, analog sure but digital no), then hook it up to your hdtv, then make sure you set the dvd picture and sound up properly and you are ready to go.

It is very quiet running as well, night and day to the sound of my generator, aka the xbox 360. I got this because I didn’t want to use my 360 for everything as this would shorten its life i’m sure. It has up-convert to 1080p which my 360 does not (picture and sound significantly better), so it was worth 100 dollars or what ever I paid a year plus ago for this player.

Samsung BD-P1600 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player User Review

The BDP-1600 is an excellent budget player. While it has flaws (expensive wi-fi dongle, annoying flip down front, slightly slow ethernet connectivity) the playback and feature range is simply too good to pass up. It plays dvd’s and blu-rays quickly and flawlessly with good audio/video. Netflix streaming is extremely simple, Pandora only slightly more difficult. The inclusion of YouTube is basically useless. The first firmware upgrade included YouTube/Blockbuster for our player, so I’m unable to comment on any issues prior to that, since there weren’t any. It’s also possible to use the ethernet connection to plug into a wireless extender/hotspot/hub to use the player wireless. The remote is also excellent – easy to program and fully functional. In all, it’s a great value and definitely too good to pass up.

Purchased this item for my second TV in the den/office and have been very satisfied with the product. One caveat is to be careful with the tray, as it is a little delicate. My first unit developed a jam in the first few weeks of use and would not open or close. JVC replaced the unit under the warranty and I’ve been using ever since with no problems. Great video signal to my 37″ Polaroid HDTV LCD via the HDMI interface. This unit has been in service for one year now with no problems whatsoever on the second unit provided by JVC.

To be honest, I haven’t used this DVD player a lot since I bought it,so I can’t really judge it’s durability. The problem is not with the player or the TV; it’s just that I haven’t been able to find many DVDs recently that I felt were worth renting! When I have used this DVD player, it performed flawlessly.
